With the continuous development of computer technology and the increasing demand for the accuracy of reservoir imaging,prestack depth migration imaging has developed into a conventional process for seismic data processing and is widely used in practical production.The prestack depth migration data is more real,intuitive and convenient to reflect the structural features of the subsurface than the prestack time migration data.However,the study of depth domain is mainly focused on imaging technology and structural interpretation.The application of depth domain interpretation is less and how to explain the depth of the domain is inconclusive.In this paper,we focus on the comparison of depth domain data and time domain data,expatiates the definition of depth domain wavelet,discusses the difference and connection of time domain wavelet and depth domain wavelet,and studies how to carry out convolution operation in depth domain,The characteristics of time domain and depth domain data are analyzed from the convolution data,the wave profile and the offset data respectively.The qualitative knowledge of the depth domain data is given theoretically;Finally,the applicability of time domain seismic attribute extraction method and calculation method in depth domain is analyzed.Through the comparative analysis of the depth field and time domain seismic data,it can be realized that the depth domain data is actually a data set rather than the geophysical field.The depth domain wavelet has no obvious physical meaning and can not give a fixed depth domain wavelet Convolution studies are carried out directly,but convolution can be done by equivalent transformation;the calculation method of time domain is still applicable to the study of seismic attribute extraction in depth domain.
