Mustelidae population size and their habitat selection in winter in Huangnihe Nature Reserve have been studied using line transect during November in 2016 and February in 2017.Mustelidae animals were recards using 42 sample qua drats and 40 control quadrats composed by 20 sample lines that the whole are as were 225 km.The number of footsteps left by the genus pelicans through t he line was recorded within 24 hours to calculate the population density of the family pelinoptera, and the number of herring animals in the protected area w as estimated.Thirteen kinds of habitat factors were measured, including slope direction, fallen tree, hiding cover, bare rock, elevation, thickets coverage,gr adient, slope location, distance to human disturbance, canopy density, hiding l evel, forest type, snow depth and tree diameter at breast height.Analytical me thods and results are as follows:Number of investigations Mustelidae animal populationsAnalytical results from(Formozov-Malyshev-Pereleshin Formula)were follo wing:It shows that in the Huangnihe Nature Reserve,The average density of sable(Martes zibellina)is 0.279±0.009/km~2,The number of protected areasis ap proximately 1070;The average density of Yellow-throated marten(Manes flavigu la)is 14.508±0.016/km~2,The number of protected areas is approximately 6483;The average density of yellow weasel(Mustelasibiri-ca)is 91.39±3.899/km~2,The number of protected areas is approximately 38008.Mustelidae animal habitat selection surveya)One-sample Kolmogorov-Smimov test:The 13 types of ecological factors measured in the Huangnihe Conservation Area showed an abnormal distributio n.Therefore,we use the two independent samples Mann-Whitey U test in non-parametric test to analyze the differences in the selection of quantitative habita ts and their comparative analysis.b)Results of Mann-Whitey U test show that characters of sample quadrates were significant difference in covert and Canopy density aspects, while differen ces of variations of thickets coverage, canopy.hiding cover, diameter at breas t height,Human interference distance and snow depth were insignificant.c)Results from Bailey's confidence interval method demonstrate that sount h slope or half sounth slope in middle slope position and half cloudy slope in broadleaf-conifer forest are favored by Mustelidae wildlife,blow-down and bar e rock would be selected compared with uphill position,Shady slope position and broadleaf forest.d)Results of principal component analysis indicate that Cumulative contribu tion rate from 4 former common factors were 64.9%,and cumulative contributi on rates of first principal componenthave been to 30.9%,which means that 64.859%variations of 13 elements could be explained by the former factors with out 35.141%lost imformation, and Mustelidae characters in winterly habitual s elections could be articulated well.Factor I includes forest type, altitude, sno w depth, and Human interference distance;factor II includes covert and Dbh of tree;factor III includes slope position;factor?cludes bare rock and shru b coverage.Winter habitat would be the areas with abundant food and extreme ly concealment.
