Marsel area located in southern Kazakhstan where oil and gas resources are abundant. The area of 1.85×104km2 located in the west of Chu-Sarysu Basin mainly develop the upper Paleozoic and Mesozoic strata, where the proved gas reserves reach1.97×1010m3.Utilizing the theory of basin tectonic analysis and the technique of seismic data interpretation and analogue modelling, based on the seismic, drilling and logging data, this paper will analyze the characteristics of geometry, kinematics and dynamics in the Marsel area. The results of seismic data interpretation shows that the structural evolution can be divided into four stages, including initial rifting in late Devonian, passive continental margin in Carboniferous, subduction collision in Permian, and depression in Mesozoic. The result of analogue modelling experiment reveals that the existence of salt in D3fm2 is the controlling factor of the formation of anticline and the decoupling of fault system in different layers.Applying ant tracking, this paper makes the research about fracture prediction in3D survey, and collects the data of fracture strike and dip.Comparing the results of prediction with the well FMI data, the study suggests that, high conducive fracture and microfracture distribute in southern 3D survey, which can help choose the favorable zone.
