The northern slope of Tazhong uplift has great oil and gas exploration potential.Based on the 3D seismic interpretation,attribute statistical analysis,statistics of the fault displacement and production of the equilibrium profiles,we study the geometry and kinematics difference along the strike-slip faults and their formation mechanism.We also discussed the petroleum geological significance.The study has revealed that the structural styles of the strike-slip faults included single steep strike-slip faults,overlaid positive flower and negative flower,en echelon normal faults.The direction of the faults is manly NE,NEE and NW.Regard to the geometry difference of the strike-slip faults,along the strike from NE to SW,Shuntuo No.1 strike-slip fault is divided into five segments,Shunnan-1 strike-slip fault is divided into four segments,Shunnan-4 strike-slip fault is divided into seven segments,Shunnan-2 strike-slip fault is divided into four segments and Gulong-1 strike-slip fault is divided into five segment.As to the kinematics difference,according to the deformation strength,Shuntuo No.1 strike-slip fault is divided into five strong segments and four weak segments.Shunnan-2 strike-slip fault is divided into two strong segments and two weak segments.Shunnan-1 strike-slip fault is divided into three strong segments and three weak segments.Shunnan-4 strike-slip fault is divided into two strong segments and three weak segments with the maldistribution of the deformation strength.The active period of the strike-slip faults in the northern slope of Tazhong uplift can be divided into four stages which are Early Caledonian,Middle Caledonian,Hercynian and Indo-Chinese-Himalayan.The faults on the pre-existing basement,detachment layer and periphery tectonic movement are the main controlling factors of lateral deformation difference of the strike-slip faults in the northern slope of Tazhong uplift.
