Although the exploration in Junggar Basin has achieved certain break in recent years, and the source rocks in the Bogda area has been studied, there still have problems in characteristics of source rock development, geochemistry and hydrocarbon generation potential, maturity and evolution characteristics. In this paper, the Permian source rocks around the Bogeda Mountain in the eastern margin of the Junggar Basin are studied, and a comprehensive analysis of the abundance, type and maturity of the organic matter in the Permian source rocks in the study area was conducted. The geochemical characteristics of the permian source rocks in the study area have been comprehensively evaluated. The petroleum sources of study area was discussed by comparing and analyzing the geochemical characteristics of the Permian source rocks and crude oils in the study area. The distribution characteristics of effective source rocks are summarized. The results show that the Permian source rocks on the Periphery of Bogda Mountain are widely distributed. The distribution of the source rocks of the Permian Lucaogou Formation is the most stable and the thickness is large. The organic matter abundance of the Lucaogou Formation source rocks was the highest, followed by the Hongyanke Formation, and the other groups were lower in organic matter abundance. The maceral of the Permian source rocks in the study area are dominated by the saprolite group and have oil-repellent properties.Maturity is high in the southern region. The results of oil source correlation indicate that crude oil of Chepaizi District is mainly from Permian and Jurassic source rocks, while Carboniferous source rocks may provide a small amount of hydrocarbon,Permian crude oil of Well Mucan-1 in the eastern margin of the Junggar Basin may mianly come from Permian source rocks. The results of hydrocarbon source rock contribution analysis show that the oil source in the study area is mainly mixed-stage mixed source oil,and the oil source contribution is mainly from the Permian Lucaogou Formation source rocks. The contribution of source rocks. The effective source rocks of the Permian in the study area are mainly the Lucaogou Formation.
