The Land is the basic material resource for human beings living on the earth, and it is also one of the important resources necessary for human survival. Therefore, monitoring and analysis of land use / cover change is particularly important. With the rapid development of remote sensing technology,it has become possible to explore the number of land use types, the relationship and characteristics of spatial changes, and the analysis of changing factors on local and even global scales, including not only the impact on socioeconomic development but also the biological growth environment.,Bird or insect migration. In addition, land use / cover research can also serve as an important reference for future land use / cover planning and practice. This paper selects series of Landsat images with an average interval of about 10 years from 1972 to 2017.Using a combination of normalized water body index, support vector machine method and visual interpretation,Nakhon Phanom Province of Nakhon Ratchasima Plateau in northeast Thailand was extracted. The land use / cover change information of Nakhon Phanom has an overall accuracy of over 88% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.86.Five types of land use change analysis models and indexes including single land use type dynamics, land use type transfer matrix, land use type status index, comprehensive land use degree index, and landscape pattern index are also used to conduct land use / cover type Quantitative and spatial change characteristics and trend analysis. It also analyzes the driving factors of land use / cover change in Nakhon Phanom in the past 45 years from two aspects: natural factors and social factors.water conservancy facilities,as well as the speed and scale of urbanization development, and explores their mutual transformation in the past 45 years. From 1972to 2017,the single land use dynamics and land use transfer matrix can be concluded that construction land, water bodies and roads have increased rapidly,7.84%,2.52%,and 2.20%,respectively;the change in cultivated area is small. The single dynamic degree was 0.63%;the area and quantity of forest land decreased rapidly, and the single dynamic degree reached-0.89%.There are obvious regional differences in the distribution and transfer of woodland and cultivated land, which mainly occur in the northwest, central, part southwest and southeast in turn.According to the analysis of comprehensive land use and landscape pattern index,it can be seen that the shape of the entire patch in the study area tends to be simple, fragmented patches are reduced, and the degree of dispersion between land types is reduced. The overall comprehensive land use is getting higher and higher;land use space The pattern is gradually stable and balanced.Based on the foregoing research,a qualitative method is used to analyze the driving mechanism of land use change in Nakhon Phanom.Under the constraints of unique natural and social conditions, appropriate development and utilization should be made according to local conditions to ensure that it can meet the needs of human life.Future land use prediction, planning, biological control, and scientific decision-making on living conditions provide data support.
