The instability of slope will cause huge casualties and property losses, which the landslides all over the world often appear. Therefore, the world has not stopped to study the stability of slopes. The red clay widely appeared in Guangxi,Yunnan,Guizhou and other places in China,as a special kind of expansive soil, deformation and strength change is extremely sensitive to temperature and humidity, and the slope stability is the main cause of reduced shear strength. Therefore, the study on the temperature and humidity is crucial for the coupling of the red clay. This paper selects the Yanshan District,Guilin city of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region a red clay slope as the research object, through indoor experiment and outdoor corresponding combination, discusses the characteristics of the red clay heat coupling, the specific conclusions are as follows:Research on thermal conductivity:Most of the heat transfer through the liquid phase and the solid phase, and the gas phase transfer ability is weak. The thermal conductivity is inhomogeneous with the increase of suction. When the suction does not exceed the intake value, the thermal conductivity rises in a small margin, and decreases rapidly as there is a small drop in the ground.Variation of thermal conductivity and saturation almost synchronous, this is because of saturation is the most direct indicator reaction three-phase relationship, but the saturation is larger, variation of thermal conductivity is much smaller than the saturation, according to the second law of thermodynamics, increasing the temperature can reduce both change range.Research on water holding characteristics:The density of SWCC measured by pressure plate instrument is bigger, and the structure is more dense. When the moisture content is greater than the optimal moisture content, the pore distribution of the soil is more homogeneous, otherwise,it is more scattered. All curves have "platform period",which indicates that the dual porosity structure is very obvious. The distribution of soil samples presents "point to point" and "team group" and "group to point" distribution.Research on field test:Under the effect of atmospheric environment, the change amplitude of the soil temperature at the same position in the red clay slope will gradually decrease with the increase of the buried depth of the soil. When the soil depth is greater than the influence of the atmospheric environment on the soil temperature of the red clay slope, the soil temperature will be less affected by the external radiation and the atmosphere temperature. The daily influence depth of atmospheric environment on red clay slope can be found for soil temperature change in a day,no matter the temperature is high or low. Therefore, the use of geotemperature to the thermostat of buildings is not only environmentally friendly, but also feasible.During the continuous rainfall period, the water content of the slope soil increased significantly, resulting in the larger thermal conductivity of the soil and faster heat transfer. The shallow heat also moved to the deep soil faster. The transfer of heat can also promote the homogenization of the humidity field. It can be seen that the change of water content in the slope soil is the main factor affecting the stability of the slope. The change of temperature plays a promoting role, and the coupling effect of temperature and humidity will eventually lead to the instability of the slope.
