Matrine has high fungicidal and insecticidal activity, and it has been current research focus in the development of botanical pesticide. This study was aimed at effects of matrine on soil microorganism and its environmental behavior in soil and water.According to ’Experimental Guideline for Environmental Safety Evaluation of Chemical Pesticide’.The main results and conclusions are as follows:1 The result of oscillation balance experiment showed that adsorption process of matrine in three kinds of soil was fitted to Freundlich(R2>0.96),and matrine was mainly adsorbed by soil. The Northeast black soil was easy adsorption(Kd=84.42)to matrine, the was medium adsorption(Kd=38.34),the Jiangxi red soil was difficult adsorption(Kd=9.41).Adsorption free energy were-18.12(Northeast black soil),-18.55(Henan fluvo-aquic soil)and-19.51(Jiangxi red soil)KJ/mol,respectively.Adsorption was spontaneous process,in addition, adsorption were closely related to organic matter content.2 Column test indicated that matrine was difficult to leach into low soil layer and most of them was adsorbed by upper soil layer in 3 kinds of soils.3 Degradation experiment of matrine in soil showed that matrine was degraded fast, the half-life were 3~4 d under aerobic condition, the half-life were 5~6 d under oxygen free condition.4 The effect of matrine on soil respiration, ammoniation, nitrification fungi, actinomycetes and nitrogen-fixing bacteria in soil were studied. The result showedthat matrine was did not inhibit the respiration of soil microbe, and matrine could induce fungi, actinomycetes, nitrification and nitrogen-fixing bacteria, but high concentration of matrine has certain inhibiting effect on ammoniation.5 Matrine was difficultly degraded in sterile buffer solution, but it could be fast degraded in river water and pond water, within half-life less than 3 days.
