The rapid development of modern industry and agriculturebrings a better life for human,at the same time, accompanied by a large number of agricultural and industrial pollution.Heavy metal contaminated soilhas become one of the most serious issues that threaten the safety of human life, among which cadmium(Cd)pollution in soil is of particular prevalent. In plants and animals, heavy metals like Cd and lead(Pb)are easy to accumulate, refractory, high toxic.Leafy vegetables have a strong ability to accumulate heavy metals, and the accumulation ability differs between different organs and varieties. Therefore,in addition to effectively control heavy metal pollution, screening of low heavy metal accumulation vegetable varieties is considered to be a more efficient approach. In this study,we select the Yangtze River Delta region of staple vegetables cabbage(Brassica oleracea L.)and non-heading Chinese cabbage(Brassica chinensis var chinensis)each of 35 varieties, utilization of vegetable field screening experiments, hydroponic experiments, expression analysis of Cd-related genes to investigate the different accumulation system of Cd and Pb between these varieties. Results are as follows:(1)By three replication of field trials,we chose a steady accumulation of varieties, low accumulation of Cd varieties Canbai(CB)and Hualvqingxiu(HL),high accumulation variety Dongfang2hao(DF).We also screen more stable low accumulation for lead variety Suzhouqing(SZ),Zhongqibai(ZQ),Aijiaoqing(AJQ),and high accumulation variety Aijiaohuang(AJH).A field experiment was made to detect the contents of heavy metals in the upper part of 35 cabbage varieties. And there were significant differences between the level of varieties.(2)According to available concentration of heavy metals in the soil of Qixiashan"GB 15618-2008" setting,we set up low and high concentration of Cd in the hydroponbic experiment, and found its ability to accumulate heavy metals are closely related with the heavy metal concentration in the solution. The low accumulation varieties,CB,showed low accumulation of Cd in the high and medium concentration Cd treatments, and showed a high accumulation of Cd in the low concentration treatment. And the high accumulation variety,DF showed a high accumulation of Cd at high concentration Cd treatment,in the low concentration of Cd treatment showed a low accumulation of Cd.The low accumulation varieties of Pb showed low accumulation of Pb in the high and medium concentration Pb treatment, and showed the high accumulation of Pb in the low concentration treatment. While the high accumulation cultivars showed high accumulation of Pb in the treatment of high concentration Pb,low accumulation of Pb was shown in the low concentration Pb treatment.(3)Significant difference were observed in the expression of Cd-related genes in the root of different cultivars of 50 ?M 24 h Cd.The expression of NRT1.8 in CB and DF was down regulated, and the expression level was up-regulated in HL.Encoding cadmium and iron transporter Nramp3,encoding glutathione reductase GR],encoding NADPH oxidase NOX1 in HL,CB expression were up-regulated,in DF expression down-regulated.In conclution,we screened several varieties of non-heading Chinese cabbage and cabbage with low and high heavy metal(Cd or Pb)accumulation ability, our results showed that the ability of low or high accumulation of heavy metals were not only dependent on its genetic background, but also related with the heavy metal availability in the solution.Gene expression analysis showed that some key Cd-related marker genes may also contribute to the heavy metal accumulation in vegetables.
