In many years ago,green sand has been applied to make molding materials.At present,however,according to statistics,about 2-5%defective rate of casts is caused by green sand casting in advanced companies of our country.More than 50%of the unqualified casts is caused by the quality problem of molding sand,such as sand holes,sand avalanche and sand inclusion.This hinders the quality of cast improving seriously.Therefore,it will be significant both from improving the system management of molding sand and decreasing the problem of molding sand.It is the best to reduce he unqualified casts by means of controlling performance of molding sand.So it is particularly important to choose the appropriate performance parameters and moulding equipment operation parameters.In this work,processing molding sand was investigated based on the actual production procedure in Guangxi Yuchai Machinery.After testing the amount of bentonite premixed and sand dust removing air brake adjusting,the optimal parameters of sand mulling and raw material were ascertain.The parameter of equipment during sand mulling was tested by the means of DOE and properties of molding sand were selected.The basic data of sand cooling was collected,the cooling recycling time of old sand,the moisture stability of the performance was monitored and the data of DOE experiment was analysed.The results show that the quantitative scope of bentonite premixed is 7-8 kg/min.The dust removal ability in each part of the clear air brake(single variable control of hydraulic change capability of 0.4%or so)is ascertained.It is the most favorable sand modelling as the host pressure,static pressure and actual sand compactability are107.5MPa,0.5s and 43.5%or higher,respectively.
