With the progress of society and the development of science and technology, the need for the property of steel material is increasingly higher, which means that some more advanced purification technology of molten steel should be proposed that based on original refining technology. The study of the inclusions in liquid steel is important to the pure steel making.A new way of making the steel more pure has been proposed in this article. To achieve the aim of inclusions removal the movement of the inclusion is controlled by the way of applying the pulse current to the steel liquid. This paper firstly summarizes the traditional technology of inclusion removal, then elaborates the technology of electromagnetic purification, the application of pulse current in metallurgy, the deoxidation of solid electrolyte and the purification of power ultrasonic. In order to research the effect of additional current on molten steel, this paper adopts upper and lower energization method to analyze the influences of current magnitude, current waveform and different stages of energization on the inclusion and contraction cavities in molten steel by contrast experiment. The results obtained from primarily exploring experiments are as follows.(1)The way of applying current to the molten steel can improve the compactness of steel, also it can reduce the number of contraction cavities of steel. The consequence is better after applying pulse current.(2)The amount of Al2O3 inclusion near negative electrode in the steel current is more than the same place in untreated steel. It means the pulse current can control the movement of Al2O3 inclusion. The larger current magnitude is,the clearer the effect is.(3)The distribution of MnS inclusion and TiN inclusion are effected by the current. After applying current MnS inclusion and TiN inclusion gather in the anode area of steel sample.Meanwhile, the pattern of TiN inclusion changed after the current.(4)The amount of Al2O3 inclusion in upper area of steel sample at the stage of cooling is more than the amount of Al2O3 inclusion in upper area of steel sample at steady stage. It means the effect of applying current at the stage of heat preservation is clearer.(5)The inclusions and contraction cavities in central area of steel sample with pulse current at steady and cooling stage are lesser than other steel samples. The effect of applying pulse current at steady and cooling stage is obvious.
