At present,the optical components made by optical glass,silicon carbide,silicon have become widely used.In the manufacture of optical components and its mold,in order to obtain the ideal surface quality,using micro grinding wheel to precision grinding is the most effective way.While one of the common problems in the traditional grinding wheel is that the abrasive arrangement is not regular,and the aggregation of the abrasive particles is existent,causing the uneven surface quality.Spraying diamond grains by electrostatic spray has been put forward in this paper to achieve uniform diamond grains and improve the quality of grinding surface.The principle and experiment of abrasive particle electrostatic spray were discussed.The main contents include the following points:?1?The distribution mechanism of diamond abrasive particles in the electrostatic field was revealed from the breakage of the charged droplets,the force of the droplets and the process of electrostatic atomization.The electric field between the nozzles and the ring electrodes was simulated by Maxwell.The electric field distribution characteristic and the electric field intensity varying with the electrode voltage,the electrode spacing,the diameter of the ring electrode,the diameter of the nozzle electrode were analyzed.?2?The diamond abrasive spray device was designed and built,the problem of jet bias was also solved.Stable and dispersed diamond abrasive suspension was prepared by the ratio of Twain80 to kerosene in 3:1,which kept stable after static 6 hours.The influence of suspension composition,particle concentration and abrasive particle size on the stability of suspension were analyzed.The distribution of diamond particles were evaluated by the distribution uniformity,distribution density,distribution range,and the advantages and disadvantages of grid method and intercept method were analyzed.The diamond particles were automatic counted by using image processing method.?3?Several parameters affecting diamond particle distribution were analyzed.It was found that the change of electrode voltage would change the spray mode,having the most direct impact on the distribution of diamond particles.The particle distribution in the cone jet mode is best.Under the condition of electrode voltage 6 kV,liquid flow rate 10 mL/h and receiving distance 30 mm,the particle with distribution uniformity of 92.4%and a distribution density of 8.085×10-3?m-2 could be obtained.By observing the distribution of diamond particles in different range,it was found that the particles were mainly distributed in the range of 5mm from the spraying center.The effect of spray parameters on diamond particles contained in a single droplet was studied by experiment,which is help to further understand the distribution of particles in the electrostatic field.
