Hydrogen is a kind of new energy with high purity and high energetic efficiency. It has been paid more and more attention by the countries all over the world. It has greatly promoted the rapid development of hydrogen production technology.Biological hydrogen production is one of the commonly used technologies of hydrogen production by people, which not only has the advantages of low pollution, high efficiency and other characteristics, but also does not require additional investment in energy minerals, far less than the cost of other types of hydrogen production technology and the wide selection of countries. As compared with photosynthetic biological hydrogen production technology, bio fermentation technology without light source, the reaction device is simple, the operation is difficult, and the hydrogen production efficiency is higher.UASB anaerobic reactor is one of the commonly used methods for bio hydrogen production. The main body of this reactor is the three part of the main body, including the influent, the water distribution system, the reaction tank and the three-phase separator. After the reactor effluent is introduced into the reactor, the sewage can be upward through the sludge bed,and the biological anaerobic reaction is completed by the wastewater and the sewage sludge. The gas can be formed by the reaction, which is beneficial to the maintenance of the sludge particles. The attached and non-attached gas in the reactor will rise to the upper part of the reactor, which is in contact with the bottom of the three phase's transmitter, and eventually be collected to the gas-collecting chamber. In this study,we will use the molasses wastewater as substrate;we analyzed the feasibility of the UASB anaerobic reactor for hydrogen production,at the same time on the starting and running characteristics. This paper selects the artificial waste water as substrate of honey, while adding nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer as substrate nutrition agent,UASB anaerobic reactor temperature control at 35±2?.The starting stage of the COD concentration of 4000mg/L,after the start of the COD into the stable period of 6000mg/L,after running UASB,60d anaerobic reactor was successfully carried out in the ethanol type fermentation. In this study,ORP was between-350 and-400mV,and the removal rate of COD was 27%.In the early stage of the feed substrate pH fluctuations are relatively large, but the pH value of the effluent is stable in the 4.5-5.5.Its gas production is higher,to reach the relevant standards, the maximum value of 17.24L/d,hydrogen content is more than 50%.In the liquid phase products, acetic acid and ethanol were the main substances, which accounted for about 80%of the total product. In this study,we demonstrated the feasibility of molasses waste water anaerobic UASB reactor for hydrogen production, but limited to the technical level, the difficulty of promoting industrialization of hydrogen production technology is still large,we need from the reactor structure, substrate organization, reaction factors were optimized, and this will be our next research direction.
