The Artistic Of Cantonese Furniture

The Ming and Qing dynasties were the period of rapid development of Chinese hardwood furniture.There are several distinctive hardwood furniture production centers in China,such as Guangzhou,Suzhou,Beijing,etc.From the late 16 th century to the middle 20 th century,the furniture production in Guangdong,Cantonese furniture,created its own unique furniture art and made lots of furniture for Asia,Europe and the Americas.Cantonese furniture kept pace with the times,the characteristic was distinct and the influence was widespread.It is worth further study in artistic characteristic and esthetics value.Based on the research of the predecessors,this paper begins with the collections of the representatives of the Cantonese furniture.And then it classifies and stages the Cantonese furniture with the typology analysis method of archaeology and cultural relics.At the same time it provides a more in-depth analysis of the artistic of Cantonese furniture from materials,modeling,technology,decoration and furnishings.At last,it illustrates the aesthetic value of Cantonese furniture in detail with the solutions of following questions.What is the aesthetic conception of Cantonese furniture and how did it form and develop,How did Cantonese furniture influence on the furniture from other areas,What contribution did it provide in the development of modern furniture art.
