Titanium alloy has been widely applied in aerospace,chemical engineering and other industrial sectors due to its excellent characteristics such as high strength,high hardness and high heat resistance.However,when the traditional method is used to process Titanium alloy the cutting temperature and cutting force are high,which leads to the aggravation of the tool wear and the poor quality of the processed surface.In addition,during the cutting process of Titanium alloy sticking knife phenomenon is serious,which will also accelerate tool wear.And the tool life will be greatly reduced,the quality of the machining surface will be affected.In order to solve the problems aboved,the laser assisted heating method will be used to study the micro cutting of Ti-6Al-4V Titanium alloy in this paper.Firstly,a laser assisted orthogonal micromachining system has been developed which is based on the theory of laser assisted machining.In the design stage,the three-dimensional model of the micromachining system is established by using CATIA software.And then by means of finite element simulation,the static analysis and modal analysis of the whole structure of the machining system are carried out.From the results,we found that the laser assisted micro machining system designed meets the design requirements.Then,the micro cutting experiment of Ti-6Al-4V Titanium alloy is carried out by laser assisted orthogonal micromachining system,and the influence of laser parameters and cutting parameters on heat affected zone,machined surface quality and tool wear is mainly studied.The experimental results show that laser power and laser moving speed have great influence on heat affected zone.Compared with conventional cutting,laser assisted cutting can reduce surface roughness,improve surface quality and reduce tool wear in cutting process.Single factor experiments and orthogonal experiments were used to study the effect of different parameters on the surface roughness,surface residual stress,surface hardness in this paper,The influence degree of each parameter on surface roughness and surface residual stress is investigated by the extreme difference method.The result shows that the influence degree of each factor on the surface roughness Ra from big to small are: cutting speed,laser power and cutting depth,and the influence degree of each factor on the surface residual stress from big to small are the cutting depth,Laser power and cutting speed. |
