In this paper,TGA analyzer,Py-GC combined with XANES were used to study sulfur transformation during the pyrolysis of coal by metal oxides.Firstly, the optimal heating rate of coal pyrolysis was investigated by TGA analyzer, meanwhile, the weightlessness of metal oxides and coal pyrolysis was investigated.Py-GC was further used to study the effect of different oxides on sulfur transformation during pyrolysis of different coals. Finally, the resulting coke was qualitatively analyzed using XANES.The major conclusions are drawn as following:1.Both the ED and ZY coals have the highest weight loss rate at the heating rate of 10K/min,and the thermal decomposition is the most obvious.Calcium oxide, iron oxide and zinc oxide all contribute to the coal pyrolysis and the total weight loss rate is related to the coal type.2.Iron Oxide has the strongest inhibitory effect on the release of H2S in pyrolysis of ED and ZY coals;calcium oxide has the strongest inhibitory effect on ED coal and ZY coal sulfur dioxide release.3.The iron-calcium composite oxide in the composite oxide has the strongest inhibitory effect on the emission of the three sulfur-containing gases generated during pyrolysis of the two coals.4.According to the XANES analysis of the coke,it was found that although the addition of the oxide did not change the existing form of the organic sulfur, the presence of the inorganic sulfur was changed so that the content of sulfides was increased.5.The ratio of CaS and pyrite in the semi-coke pyrolyzed by iron-calcium composite oxides and coal increased significantly, while the proportion of sulfate sulfur decreased.
