Silver plated polyamide 6?PA6?fibers have many excellent properties and are widely used in textiles.However,traditional method to prepare silver plated PA6 fibers has the disadvantages of complex process,high pollution,large waste and poor fastness of silver plating.A recently developed modification method based on catechol ethylamine requires long treatment time and the plating efficiency is low.The purpose of this project is to explore a novel,green and simple process for the rapid preparation of silver plated PA6fibers with high performances.Firstly,the cleaning process of PA6 fiber was studied.Through single factor test,the optimal cleaning process conditions of PA6 fiber were obtained as follows:ethanol ultrasonic cleaning for 30 min,4%hydrochloric acid ultrasonic pickling for 45 min,distilled water ultrasonic washing for 30 min.Then,the optimal process condition for the preparation of catechol ethylamine modified PA6 fibers was developed by using the orthogonal and single-factor tests as follows:catechol ethylamine dosage of 3 g/L,H2O2 concentration of 0.6 ml/L,CuSO4·5H2O concentration of 1.8 g/L,bath ratio of 1:25,treatment time of 120 min,treatment temperature of 40°C,and water bath shaking speed of 150 r/min.Various characterization techniques such as FTIR,SEM,AFM and UV-visible spectrophotometry showed that the PA6 was successfully modified,and the surface chemical stability and depositional fastness were good.Subsequently,the optimal process parameters for preparing silver plated PA6 fiber was obtained by exploring the effects of silver nitrate concentration,glucose concentration,pH of silver ammonia solution and reaction temperature on the properties of the silver plated fiber:silver nitrate concentration of 8 g/L,glucose concentration of 12 g/L,tartaric acid concentration of 5 g/L,volume ratio of silver ammonia solution to reducing liquid1:1,silver ammonia solution pH=11,reaction temperature 40°C,ethanol concentration of50 ml/L,the bath ratio of 1:25.Finally,EDS,SEM,AFM,XRD,antibacterial experiments and conventional physical experiments were used to characterize the properties of silver plated PA6 fiber.The results showed that the silver plated PA6 fibers have good coating fastness,high antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli,and the mechanical strength of the fibers were well maintained after silver plating.
