The thin-strip twin-roll casting technology has attracted more and more attention from scholars in the iron and steel industry because of its less processes,high efficiency,and low production costs.Side-sealing technology,as an important part of the twin-roll casting technology,is related to whether it can be applied to industrial production.In the traditional solid side sealing technology,due to a series of problems such as serious wear,high price,frequent replacement,etc.,it fails to meet the needs of large-scale industrial production;the proposal of the electromagnetic side seal fundamentally solves the problem of serious wear of the solid side seal plate.,And after it is put into use,it would be able to get more useful information from the bath,so it has become a hot spot for research in various countries.This paper analyzes the interaction between the magnetic field and the conductive fluid from the theory,and the flow behavior of the molten metal under the action of a magnetic field is studied.It is deduced that in twin-roll casting electromagnetic side seal,a certain height of the molten pool is required for magnetic field distribution,magnetic motive force size,provide a theoretical basis for the design of coil electromagnetic side sealing.The electromagnetic side seal has two functions on the molten metal in the molten pool,that is,the electromagnetic force acting on the molten metal at the end of the molten pool and the heating of the metal liquid near the coil.For the electromagnetic force generated by the electromagnetic side seal,this paper first studied the influence of the coil current,the plate distance,the temperature and the coil form on the electromagnetic force through simulation.Provides foundation for design and optimization of electromagnetic side seal structure below.According to the study of electromagnetic force,the distribution law of the magnetic field and magnetic field force produced by the solenoid coil in the molten pool is firstly analyzed,and then the melt is changed by changing the shape of the magnetic pole and changing the distance between the molten pool and the magnetic pole.The magnetic field and electromagnetic force received by the pool are in conformity with the theoretical values.Finally,an electromagnetic side-sealed coil suitable for a casting mill is designed.The electromagnetic force and the required electromagnetic force differ little,and has a good side sealing effect.For the thermal effect of the electromagnetic side seal,the thermal effect of the electromagnetic side seal is added to the flow field in the form of heat,and the turbulence-solidification melting model is used to analyze the temperature field of the casting pool.The comparison is obtained by comparing the electromagnetic side seal to the molten pool end.The surface temperature rises and the temperature distribution inside the bath is evener.
