Tourmaline presents the spontaneous polarization performance,far infrared radiation performance,pyroelectric and other special properties;while as cerium oxide has a better ability to store oxygen,dehydrogenation catalytic ability,therefore tourmaline and cerium oxide composite have a broad application prospects of improving the fuel combustion effect.In this work,the tourmaline ore was refined and mixed with cerium oxide to prepare functional mineral composites.The changes regulation of the mineral materials in the combustion process and the influence on the combustion were explored by SEM,XRD,FTIR and XPS.Additionally the mechanism of the combustion process was also analyzed.It was found that tourmaline,cerium oxide and the as prepared composite powders can promote the combustion of diesel oil.The tourmaline has a good infrared emissivity,which can activate the molecules of diesel oil.However,after the process of combustion,the volume of the unit cell of tourmaline becomes larger.Moreover,displacement of partial functional group of infrared absorption appears,and the peak intensity becomes weak,which results in the decreased infrared emissivity and little effect of burning diesel oil;coexisting Ce3+/Ce4+in the cerium oxide to form a redox atom pair,can presemt good storage capacity of oxygen inorder to promote the promotion of diesel oil burn,and increase heat;In the combustion process,cerium oxide in the composite powders can be adsorbed at one end of the tourmaline particles in order to transfer oxygen.Thus Fe2+can be oxidized to Fe3+,which futher shrinkes its lattice,suppresses the growth of the tourmaline unit,and have little influence on changing the cell volume and decreasing the infrared emissivity.So it maintains the good infrared emission properties during combustion,by using the as prepared composite powders with better infrared emission and storage capacity of oxygen,the effect of diesel oil heat can be maximized.The effects of tourmaline,cerium oxide and composite powders on the fuel consumption of diesel boilers and CO and NO emission in flue gas were investigated by boiler bench test.It was found that the three kinds of powders could reduce boiler fuel consumption,CO and NO emission in flue gas.The effect of compound powder on boiler fuel consumption and flue gas emission reduction was the best.The mechanism of tourmaline/cerium oxide composite powders to reduce fuel consumption and CO and NO emission was studied.The physical and chemical effects of tourmaline/cerium oxide composite powders on diesel oil were studied,the results show that the combustion reaction rate is increased and the combustion of diesel is promoted.The tourmaline/cerium oxide composite powders can react with the CO and NO produced by diesel oil combustion,which can finally reduce the emission of CO and NO in the combustion flue gas of the boiler.
