In order to explore the separation performance of structured packings manufactured by porous foams, the hydronamic performance and mass-transfer efficiency of two electrodeposited foam structured packings of Fe-Cr-Ni and Fe-Ni were tested. The experimental results showed that the two packings hold large capacity, low pressure drop, high looding velocities and wider turndown ratio.During the experimental research, the number of theoretical plates was more than 3 and 2 respectively for the Fe-Cr-Ni foam structured packings and the Fe-Ni foam structured packings.Compared with several kinds of traditional packings used commonly in industry, the Fe-Cr-Ni foam structured packings has better performances of hydrodynamic and mass transfer than 5/8 pall ring, and similar ones with M250 Y.Meanwhile, the correlations for press drop and flooding velocities of the two foam structured packings based on the tetrakaidecahedron model were developed by experimental data.Through contrasting the experimental results of four foam structured packings, the influence of specific surface area, void volume, pore size and pore struts on hydrodynamic and mass transfer in them was discussed, discovering that the geometry and size of struts is a important factor influencing on hydrodynamic of gas-liquid and mass transfer, and the best range of geometrical parameters was given, which provides the basis to design and apply the foam packings in industry.
