As a functional tissue,titanium alloy artificial joints have a large market demand.Due to the actual characteristics of titanium alloy and curved surface of artificial,the traditional polishing method with tools can’t meet its quality requirements,so the curved surface of titanium alloy artificial joints is lack of an efficient,automated polishing method.Soft abrasive flow precision machining is a new method that machining the surface of workpiece with abrasive flow in turbulence state.Combined with characteristics of the structure of the artificial joint and soft abrasive flow,this paper puts forward titanium alloy artificial joint curved surface abrasive flow precision machining method: this method builds a flow channel with a constraint component and the curved surface of artificial joint,and uses the turbulent flow of soft abrasive flow in the flow channel to achieve an efficient,automated polishing of titanium alloy artificial joint curved surface.The main works and results of this paper are as follows:1.Based on hydrodynamic theory,studying the machining theory of the method which this paper put forward,and affirming the flow state in the artificial joint flow channel is turbulence.From the stress analysis of single abrasive particle and the statistical distribution of abrasive particles in the flow channel,it can deduce the material removal model of artificial joint.2.This paper simulates flow state of the soft abrasive flow in the flow channel by FLUENT and builds the structural model of the flow channel.In case of different entrance velocity,flow channel spacing and particulate density,the numerical simulation gets the intensity distribution of abrasive flow rate,pressure and kinetic in the flow channel and guides the machining experiments.3.This paper improves the formula of soft abrasive flow,designs the artificial joint workpiece and machining flow channel,and chooses the machining parameters and makes the machining crafts.Conducting the PIV observe experiment and machining experiment,theresults of experiments show that the flow state of abrasive flow in the flow channel is turbulence,and the machining method in this paper has good machining results and a high machining quality.
