Along with the development of metallurgical industry and rapiding increase in coal mining, it makes these non renewable energy sources to decline significantly. At present,although the iron smelting is still dominated by blast furnace smelting, with the state of the CO2 emissions restrictions, the country has to control the coal development. Thus, it is necessary to pay more attention to the coal gas and conduct a lot of research.Taking Chenggang’s coal as main raw material, the selection of basic raw materials for building gas furnace was firstly carried out. The chemical composition of raw materials was calculated, and the hydrogen production capacity was analyzed. And the experiments were tested on the basic properties including abrasive property, thermal stability, reactivity and post reaction strength of raw materials. Then the basic performance of coal was selected additionally. After that, according to index such as the volatile, ash and reactivity, carried out coal blending scheme.Based on the analysis of the basic properties of raw coal, the requirements for the new type of hydrogen rich gas furnace in the furnace of coal gasification furnace have been improved and optimized. Based on the grey correlation degree method and gas test results, the optimal coal blending scheme determined is that mixture ratio of An Tang bituminous coal, Dagu anthracite and Lu’an lean coal is70%, 7.5%, 22.5%. For the gas test by changing the process parameters, the optimum process parameters is that the flow of gasification agent is1 m3/h, the heating temperature of the gasifying agent is 850℃, the bed depth is 1000 mm,the oxygen enrichment is 15%.
