Muscovite is one of the important raw materials in industrial applications,so researchers pay more attention to muscovite separation which focus on application study about muscovite flotation. However, the systematic research about the interaction mechanism between muscovite and regulators in sodium oleate system is rare. The practice shows that the rule of flotation behavior of muscovite is not be understood very well,so the effection of recycling muscovite is still a neck problem. In view of this,in order to provide a theoretical basis about recycling muscovite efficiently, muscovite in Shaanxi province was chosen as raw material to investigate the effect of different regulators on the flotation behavior of muscovite in sodium oleate system. The interaction between muscovite and regulators was revealed by means of solution chemistry, zeta potential,SEM,FTIR and XPS etc.On this basis, the following results have been achieved.Under sodium oleate with the concentration of 9.20×10-4mol/L system, metal cations can activate muscovite in different degree in different conditions. The result shows that the muscovite recovery can reach 82.20%,65.20% and 55.70% when the amount of Mg2+,Ca2+ and Cu2+are 3.44×10-4mol/L,2.70×10-4mol/L,and1.18×10-4mol/L,respectively,a pulp value of 12.Furthermore,the muscovite recovery can reach about 95.00% when the amount of Pb2+is 9.06×10-5mol/L,a pulp value of 9.In addition, the muscovite recovery can reach 68.10% and 86.40% when the amount of Al3+and Fe3+ are 1.66×10-4mol/L and 7.40×10-5mol/L,respectively,a pulp value of 6.Under the sodium oleate with the concentration of 9.20×10-4mol/L system when a pulp value of 6,inorganic anions and organic regulators used in this paper can depressmuscovite. The muscovite recovery of 0.40%,0.10%,0.50%,0.20%,0.40%,0.40%,0.10% and 0.30% can be achieved respectively, when the amount of Na2 S,Na2SiO3,Na2SiF6,?NaPO3?6,citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid and dextrin are 4.17×10-5mol/L,3.52×10-5mol/L,5.32×10-5mol/L,3.26×10-5mol/L,4.76×10-5mol/L,7.46×10-5mol/L,9.99×10-5mol/L and 1.10×10-5mol/L,individually.The mechanism of the interaction between the metal cations and muscovite is cations react with hydroxyl groups on the surface of muscovite and form metal ion complexes, which can react with oleatc ions in solution and generate hydrophobic oleate;the muscovite surface of potassium ion is replaced by lead, which is similar to radius of potassium ions;besides, other cations adsorb on the surface of muscovite can change the surface electric property of muscovite and can differently strengthen adsorption of oleic ions on muscovite surface in local positive charge by electrostatic adsorption;in addition, metal cations adsorb on the surface of muscovite, which can change amount of reactive Al and Si on muscovite surface. The depressing muscovite mechanism of inorganic anions and organic regulators is inorganic anions react with hydroxyl groups on surface and depress of ? potential of muscovite, which weakening adsorption of oleic ions on muscovite surface in local positive charge by electrostatic adsorption;the inorganic anions could compete with oleic ions react with active sites of Al and Si on muscovite surface;the organic carboxylic acids of hydrophilic groups such as-OH or-COOH adsorbs on the muscovite surface and enhances hydrophilicity of muscovite, besides, dextrin reacts with active sites of Al and Si on muscovite surface, which weakening reaction of oleic ions and active sites of muscovite surface,in addition, dextrin adsorbes on muscovite surface by hydrogen bonds and the hydrophilicity of muscovite is further enhanced.
