Non-aqueous foams have applications in wide areas like petrochemicals,daily necessities,etc.Despite the wide use of non-aqueous,the influence of solvent polarity on the foaming performance of non-aqueous solution systems is still unclear.This paper mainly studies the effect of solvent polarity on the foaming performance of non-aqueous solution systems.The main choices are organic solvents with different polarities,namely n-octane,decane,dodecane,cyclohexane,carbon tetrachloride,toluene,benzene,ethyl acetate,acetone,methanol and ethanol,foaming experiments under the action of different kinds of surfactants.The effect of solvent polarity on its foaming property was investigated by the foaming volume,foam half-life,surface tension and foam microstructure of each system.Through experimental analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)In the different polar solvent systems,the foaming performance increases first and then decreases with the increase of surfactant concentration,and the surface tension tends to be flat after decreasing.Among them,AOT,AOS and MES have weak foaming ability in non-aqueous solvent;the gas content range of Span series,FC-03/TF370,ethoxylated stearyl alcohol and polydimethylsiloxane in different polar solvent systems are 22.8%~40.5%,37.3%~136.14%,13%~66.1% and 20%~67.7%,the half-life ranges are 5.3~9.94 s,3.44~136.14 s,11.44~74.87 s and 0.51~22.78 s,respectively.And as the polarity of the solvent increases,the foaming properties and foam stability of the polydimethylsiloxane system are continuously reduced,and the foaming properties and foam in FC-03/TF370,ethoxystearyl alcohol system Stability is constantly increasing.(2)The difference in surface polarity varies with the addition of FC-03/TF370,ethoxylated stearyl alcohol and polydimethylsiloxane in the non-aqueous phase system.The change of surface tension of non-aqueous solvent in FC-03/TF370 and ethoxystearyl alcohol increases with the increase of solvent polarity,but polydimethylsiloxane is the opposite in non-aqueous solvent systems.Among them,FC-03/TF370 has the largest reduction in surface tension in benzene,from 22.86 mN/m to 14.56 mN/m;the surface tension of ethoxystearyl alcohol decreased the most in methanol,from 22.21 mN/m to 18.09 mN/m;Polydimethylsiloxane has the largest reduction in surface tension in decane,from 26.79 mN/m to 20.45 mN/m.And the surface tension in the different polar solvents is negatively correlated with the foaming volume and half-life.(3)The type of surfactant has an effect on the foaming property of non-aqueous organic solvents.Among them,the foaming performance of polydimethylsiloxane added to decane and carbon tetrachloride is the best,and the highest gas content is 67.7% and 62.3%;the foaming performance of TC-03/TF370 is best in benzene,the gas content is up to 79.6%;the foaming performance of ethoxylated stearyl alcohol is best in ethyl acetate and acetone,the gas content rates are up to 56.5% and 60.8%. |
