A high dynamic range H2S micro gas sensor is achieved utilizing hierarchical Pd-loaded SnO2 nanostructures as sensing material.SnO2 nanospheres were synthesized using hydro-thermal method without any surfactants or templates, followed by Pd nanoparticles decoration via a facile method.A hierarchical nanostructure of Pd-loaded SnO2 is formed and their sensing abilities are compared with pure SnO2 nanospheres-based sensors.Pd-loaded SnO2 hierarchical nanostructures showed ultra-sensitive H2S detection ability down to 10 ppb, high dynamic range(4 order of magnitudes)–up to 200 ppm,and low working temperature(150℃).This micro gas sensors based on Pd-loaded SnO2 hierarchical nanostructures thus have great potential in universal H2S detection application. The fabrication method presented here is simple, renewable and operable, and thus may be extended to synthesize other types of metal oxide-based semiconductor micro sensors for application in various fields.
