A Study On The Artistic Features And Designs Of North Guangdong Yao People’s Costumes

This thesis is a phased achievement of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" planned project of the Philosophy and Social Science in Guangdong Province and the basic scientific research project "Yao Nationality Costume Image Research and Digital Protection in Northern Guangdong” of the Central University.Yao nationality costume is a national-level intangible cultural heritage;it’s colorful and is one of the most distinctive costumes of ethnic minority costumes in China.While Liannan Paiyao in Northern Guangdong is the largest Paiyao gathering place in China with unique characteristics,which has the important value for the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.Yao nationality costume culture is a part of Yao culture.Yao nationality costume is a symbol of psychological activities of Yao nationality people.It carries people and nature,material and spiritual,function and aesthetics and other aspects,The changes of Yao nationality costume are closely related to the historical progress of Yao nationality civilization,which is affected by political,economic and cultural factors and reflects the concepts such as beliefs,values and aesthetics of the Yao people in different historical periods.Nowadays,under the background that the national strategy of “One Belt,One Road” encourages intangible cultural heritage products to “go out”,the Yao nationality costume realizes the connection of tradition and fashion,fashion,art and life,to form the“revitalization” trend to intangible cultural heritage.However,today’s academic circles have less and not yet in-depth research on the art characteristics of clothing in Liannan Paiyao in Northern Guangdong as well as the innovative application of its elements in modern clothing design,and fewer and fewer Yao people wear traditional Yao nationality costumes in daily life.Therefore,it should speed up the pace of in-depth research on Yao nationality costumes in Northern Guangdong and organize and use modern technology to conduct the digital protection,to perfect the study on Guangdong Yao nationality costumes.And it is of great significance to extract relevant elements for redesign and application to realize the “revitalization” of the ethnic elements with the characters of gradual change day by day.After the author’s research and collection,measurement,depiction and restoration,a variety of research methods were comprehensively used to conduct the system collation;the main content of this paper was divided into the following points:First,it studied the multi-layered culture of Yao nationality costumes in northern Guangdong.It combed the research history of Yao people in Guangdong,the history of the changes of Yao nationality costumes in Guangdong,to analyze the changes and characteristicsof each historical period and analyze the reasons for the changes from the aspects of geographical location and environment of Liannan Paiyao,Yao nationality folk customs and belief culture.Second,it prepared for the foundation of non-legacy digital protection through the comprehensive collection and systematic arrangement in field research to Yao nationality costumes in northern Guangdong.It sorts out,surveys and restores Yao nationality costumes in northern Guangdong from its style classification,structure,pattern,color and craft,to summarize the rules and analyze the artistic features from these;Then,it explored the application methods of Yao nationality costume elements in modern fashion design.It combining the unique aesthetic characteristics and popular trends of Yao nationality costume elements,to put forward the concept and design method of innovative design and combine the market of modern clothing design,so as to propose a reference practical plan.Finally,it discussed the inheritance protection and innovation path of national costumes from the branch identification to the national identification,to consolidate the community of national destiny and reflect on the existing deficiencies and prospects for the future.This topic is helpful to supplement the research in the field of Yao nationality costumes.It is a useful combing and exploration for exploring the proposition of Chinese traditional costume culture.
