Phenanthrenes is one of the most commonly encountered polycyclic aromatic structures for materials science and medicinal chemistry.Although many synthetic routes have been developed to construct the skeleton of phenanthrenes, the difficulties in preparation of substrates and the synthesis of asymmetric Phenanthrenes remain unsolved problems. Therefore,it is meaningful to explore a method that is economic, efficient and substrates are widely applicable for the synthesis of phenanthrenes. This thesis mainly includes three chapters:The first chapter reviewed the research progress of palladium-catalyzed C-H bond activation via transient directing group. The second chapter introduces the difficulties and achievements in the synthesis of phenanthrene compounds. It mainly includes Carbenoid Coupling,Olefin Metathesis,photocyclization,metal-catalyzed annulations of biaryl derivatives and multicomponent reactions. The third chapter is phenanthrene synthesis by palladium(II)-catalyzed?-C(sp~2)-H arylation, cyclization, and migration tandem reaction. This process is operationally simple, efficientand readily scaled up.This method has also been successfully applied to the synthesis of a large number of asymmetric Phenanthrenes with high yield and single product structure, which further proves the practicability of this method.
