When TMPMF makes deep drawn stainless steel parts,“orange peel” or even cracks often appear on the surfaces, making the production stop. So,it makes a great sense for us to study “orange peel”.First of all,the deep drawn layout is introduced to make this part, such as blank size, reduction, sequence and die or punch radii. And there are some details of tooling construction design, making mass production running well.We study the roughness, appearance and microstructure on 4 points of parts. The more plastic deformation, the more orange peel there is.Tell the differences with 3 other finished parts based on roughness and appearance.Compared to other 3 kinds of raw material based on the study on phase distribution and grain size, the bigger the austenite grain size is,the less the orange peel there is,without the phase change.Because there is no phase change on current part,we simulate the current process in PAM-STAMP.And the thickness by simulation is close to the current one.Based on the simulation result,“orange peel” got improved after changing tools. There are 2 directions to improve the “orange peel”: tooling and raw material.Make sure the deformation resistance as small as possible,to improve the thin-out on the part.Stainless steel 316 with bigger austenite grain size can improve this.We have to study the proper grain size for 305.
