Research And Applications Of Enterprise Data Warehouse Based On SAP BW Modeling Architecture

SAP BW has been widely used to build up the data warehouse in many enterprises.It could help enterprises to launch the enterprise layer reports,analyze the operation status of the enterprises,and even to find the trend and root cause behind the enterprise's facts,which could provide the decision support and strategy support for enterprises.Therefore,how to utilize SAP BW to build up a better EDW(Enterprise Data Warehouse)is one of the hottest topics in the data warehouse world.Speaking of large enterprise,the parent company and child companies generally have their own data warehouses,so it is difficult for group decision makers to ensure the data's reliability in their data warehouse,which is integrated and converted from other data warehouses.Meanwhile,if the group company's report users would like to change the logic of the data,it demands the change on both group's data warehouse and sub companies' data warehouses,which leads to low data modeling flexibilities.Therefore,it will be very valuable to integrate all sub companies' data warehouses into one group-oriented enterprise data warehouse by using a method of data modeling,which will solve the issues of data reliabilities and data modeling flexibilities.The main research contents of this thesis are listed as below:1.Go through the traditional method of data warehouse implementation in large scale enterprise,analyze the current status and find the main pain points2.Research SAP BW modeling and the full solution of data warehouse implementation based on SAP BW modeling architecture,to solve the issues of data reliabilities and flexibilities.3.Design the whole process of SAP BW modeling for large scale enterprise data warehouse and design the test cases for the solution,involve the key users in the project to test it and analyze the testing results.Through the implementation of the solution in the thesis,in June 2017,the system has been gone live successfully in the Chemical Group Enterprise.During the business operation,it is justified that the system solution could fulfil the report subject requirement from chemical group,meanwhile,the data reliability,model flexibility and high system maintenance issues in previous data warehouse solution have also been solved.The user in group could improve the group business by using it.
