Cellular automata is introduced into laser processing.Laser cutting with metal plate and laser solid forming are studied.In research of laser cutting,melted liquid flow and heat conduction etc are performed on simulations.Mechanism of laser cutting and changes of kerf are explored.In the research of laser solid forming,effects of surface tension and others are realized.Mechanism of laser solid forming and changes of forming contour are investigated.The main research content is as follows:1.Laser cutting cellular automaton model and laser solid forming cellular automaton model are respectively established.The model takes full account of heat loss such as conduction,convection,radiation and latent heat of phase change.Various complex factors such as laser beam absorption,laser beam size,laser beam energy attenuation,auxiliary gas influence and molten liquid flow are also included.Based on the models,C++ program is designed to realize numerical simulation of linear laser cutting and coaxial feeding laser solid forming.2.Laser cutting experiments are carried out.Firstly,3mm low carbon steel plate is cut under different process conditions.Then,low carbon steel plate with different thickness(3mm,5mm,10 mm,16mm and 20mm)are cut under same process condition.The width of the kerf and the taper of the profile are measured and analyzed.3.Laser solid forming experiments are carried out.Firstly,single-pass linear forming experiment of nickel-base alloy powder is performed with different laser power and feed rate.Then,multi-layer forming experiment of HLSA-100 powder is carried out.4.The comparative analysis of experiments and numerical simulation is in good agreement.The reliability of the model is initially verified by laser cutting experiments with thin plate.In laser cutting experiments with steel plates of different thicknesses,the phenomenon of ‘width of kerf upper on the end' becomes more significant by the increase of thickness.It is consistent with the effects of the molten liquid flow and others in theoretical analysis.The effectiveness of laser solid forming model is initially verified by single-pass linear forming experiment.There is little error between experiment results and simulation results of geometries with multi-layer.Reliability and wide application range of laser cutting and laser solid forming cellular automata models are fully verified by all experiments.Foundation for the development of laser processing quality prediction and intelligent parameter configuration system has been built.
