The Passive Containment Cooling System as one of the important parts of the 3th large-scale advanced pressurized water reactor, should be capable to remove the heat from the containment with no operator’s action but only passive ventilating and evaporating during 72 hours after the design basis accidents. In some extreme weather condition, the site temperature might become very low.In order to diminish the adverse impact that the cold climate brings out on the safe operation of the nuclear power plant, the plant should be designed to endure the temperature of-40℃.Therefore,the critical items of PCS,such as containment steel vessel, passive containment cooling water storage tank(PCCWST),and the region of PCS valve room, should be designed to ensure the system function to provide enough cooling water to the containment on the cold climate without heating. The temperature change of the PCS critical items is analyzed by CFD.The analysis method and the calculation model of the containment vessel, the region of PCS valve room, the water tank are all developed in order to make sure the items can ensure their function under the extreme cold condition.
