In this paper the new type centrifugal dust collector is redesigned under the basic theory of traditional cyclone in order to have better separation efficiency for small size particles.This paper introduces the structure creativities of the new type centrifugal dust collector and build a basic theory for separation efficiency.Certain key structural dimensions and process parameters of the new centrifugal dust collector have been studied.Then the author selected five main factors:Spiral angle,Vortex finder depth,Dust concentration,Air velocity and Blade length,and set four levels for each factor to design a set of L16?45?orthogonal experiments to evaluate their influence on the separation efficiency and pressure drop.Also,this paper makes a preliminary exploration for the relationship between the length of the straight cylinder and the pressure drop of the new centrifugal dust collector.The results show that:?1?Based on the new separation theory for the new type centrifugal dust collector,4-micron meters talc particles can be captured when the airflow velocity reach 15m/s at turning inlet.?2?Throughout the whole 16 orthogonal experiments,the maximum separation efficiency reached 96.56%while the corresponding pressure drop was only 1300 Pa.?3?Comparing to traditional cyclone,the new type centrifugal dust collector's total pressure drop is higher.In the experiment the highest pressure drop reached 3090 Pa while this experiment's separation efficiency was only 87.90%.In certain sense,the structure characteristics made the new type centrifugal dust collector subverts the idea of the higher the separation efficiency,the greater the pressure drop.?4?Orthogonal experiments results show that the Vortex finder depth was the biggest influence on separation efficiency,followed by the Spiral angle and Airflow velocity.The most significant factors affecting pressure drop are Airflow velocity and Spiral angle.Other factors have little influence.?5?In the straight tube length experiment,the author found that putting 80mm long cotton thread into the last pressure measuring point obviously stabilized the flow field,which is helpful to obtain more proper experimental data.?6?The pressure data collected from the experiment have obvious disturbance fluctuation,which may be caused by the instability of fan output flow.For data analysis,these data should be excluded as invalid data to obtain reasonable pressure data.
