In this paper,agricultural waste corn stalks are used as raw materials.By graft copolymerization reaction,the mixture of methyl methacrylate,styrene and methyl methacrylate are chemically modified as a grafting monomer to prepare two types of high-efficiency oilabsorbing composites: MCS(Methyl methacrylate modified material)and MMS-CS(Styrene and methyl methacrylate modified material).The optimal modification condition parameters of the two modified materials are determined by multiple single-factor experiments,The results showed that the optimal reaction conditions for the preparation of MCS are as follows: the reaction temperature is 80℃;the reaction time is 8 h;the dosage of methacrylate grafting monomer methyl is 3 m L;the amount of benzoyl peroxide added is 0.5 g;and the amount of the crosslinking agent N,N-methylenebisacrylamide is 0.06 g.The optimum reaction conditions for MMS-CS preparation are as follows: the reaction temperature is 60℃;the reaction time is 10 h;raw corn stalk powder is 3.00 g;the mixture of methyl methacrylate and styrene is 9 m L;the molar ratio of the mixture of methyl ester and styrene is 0.6 : 0.012;the dosage of initiator benzoyl peroxide is 0.3 g;and the amount of crosslinking agent N,N-methylenebisacrylamide added is 0.01 g.Under the pure-oil system and the oil-water mixed system,the characteristics of oilabsorption in the two modified materials are analyzed,and the various influencing factors,such as particle size,oil absorption temperature,time,oil retention performance and recycling,are also explored and discussed,The experimental results show that,at normal temperature,the oil absorption of RCS(Corn straw raw material)is 5.1 g/g and 3.21 g/g in pure oil system and oilwater mixed system respectively;the oil absorption of MCS is 15.44 g/g and 13.57 g/g respectively.This discovery indicates that the oil absorption performance of the modified two oil absorption materials is enhanced: the oil absorption of MMS-CS is 18.61 g/g and 16.61 g/g respectively.Statistical analysis shows: which means the oil absorption of MCS is more than 3 times higher than that of RCS;The oil absorption of MMS-CS is more than 3.6 times,The oil absorption of MCS and MMS-CS was significantly higher than that of raw materials(P < 0.05),The oil absorption of MMS-CS was significantly higher than that of MCS(P < 0.05).Through the analysis of oil absorption characteristics by various factors,it is found that the oil absorption materials,MCS and MMS-CS,have a fast oil absorption equilibrium time.With the decrease of particle size and adsorption temperature,the oil absorption of MCS and MMS-CS increases gradually.In addition,these two types of modified materials also have good properties of oil-retention and recycling as they can be used for multiple times by multiple physical or mechanical extrusions.Compared to RCS,MCS and MMS-CS show better performance of oil absorption.prepared by chemical modification of natural waste corn stalks,MCS and MMS-CS are better oil-absorbing materials with properties of high oil absorption,low cost,good properties of oilretention and reuse.
