Investigating Project Managers Waste Reduction Behavior Motivationin Construction Projects

In recent years,with the rapid development of China's construction industry,a large number of construction projects have produced large-scale construction waste.But in contrast,the management level of construction waste in China is not high.Construction waste has not been effectively treated since it came into being.Most of them are still treated by direct landfill,which has caused many adverse effects on the economy,environment and society.Therefore,it is imperative to strengthen the management of construction waste.As the management center of construction projects,project managers directly participate in project decision-making and organize and coordinate various activities in the construction process.They will directly affect how to effectively carry out construction waste management on the construction site,and play a very important role in construction waste management.Therefore,this paper takes project managers as the research object,discusses the influencing factors and formation mechanism of project managers' implementation of construction waste management behavior,and puts forward pertinent suggestions for improvement.According to the research purpose,this paper can be divided into two parts: theoretical model construction and empirical analysis.Firstly,through literature review and collection of relevant information on construction waste management and behavioral research,identify the main factors affecting the management behavior of project managers.Based on the norm activation model,build a theoretical model of construction waste management behavior of project managers.Then,based on the theoretical model of the study,the questionnaire is designed by literature method,and the results of the questionnaire are analyzed by SPSS and AMOS.The path relationship between variables in the model is verified,and the main factors affecting the construction waste management behavior of project managers and their formation mechanism are finally determined.It is found that the behavioral intention of construction waste management of project managers is influenced by both personal norm and attitude toward the behavior.Among them,the personal norm has the greatest impact on behavioral intention.This moral obligation is an incentive force for project managers to conduct construction waste management behavior.As a key variable in the model,the personal norm is influenced by the ascription of responsibility,anticipated feeling of pride and anticipated feeling of guilt.Project managers' sense of responsibility for the adverse consequences of construction waste and the anticipated emotional impact of construction waste management will promote the formation of their personal norm.Finally,the awareness of consequences can directly affect the ascription of responsibility and attitude toward the behavior and then affect the behavioral intention of project managers through the variables of anticipated emotion,personal norm and so on.Through discussing the motivation of project managers' behavior in construction waste management,according to their variable interaction path,this paper puts forward some pertinent suggestions on construction waste management,hoping that these suggestions can promote construction waste management in building projects.
