Extracted titanium tailing is a kind of industrial waste in Panxi area.Because there is no economical and environmentally friendly way to dispose of recycling,people can only pile it up.This not only affects the local air,water quality and people's health,but also causes a waste of resources because there is still a large amount of titanium resources in the extracted titanium tailing.Therefore,finding new economical and effective ways of reuse is a main research focus that needs to be solved.The main components of extracted titanium tailing are CaO MgO,Al2O3 and TiO2 et al.These are the main raw materials for preparing glass-ceramic foams and glass ceramics.Therefore,this paper takes extracted titanium tailing and glass waste as the main raw materials to prepare glass-ceramic foams and glass ceramics by sintering method,and analyzes the microstructure,phase composition and physical and chemical properties of the products by means of SEM,XRD and TEM et al.?1?Glass-ceramic foams could be synthesized using extracted titanium tailing as a raw material,mixed with glass waste,foaming agent Na2CO3 and flux agent B2O3by a simple powder foaming method.The effects of preparing conditions such as sintering temperature?760-790oC?,sintering time?10-40 min?,Na2CO3 content?0-3wt.%?and B2O3 content?0-3 wt.%?on the micro morphology have been systematically investigated by scanning electron microscopy.The crystallinity,compressive strength,thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient are investigated by X-ray diffraction,electronic universal testing machine,heat flow method and thermal dilatometer.The pore size,percent and distribution of the glass-ceramic foams can be controllably prepared by adjusting the preparing conditions.Pore structure plays an important role in determining the apparent density,compressive strength,thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient.The glass-ceramic foam has a low apparent density of 0.30±0.01 g cm-3,an available compressive strength of 1.0±0.1 MPa,a thermal conductivity of 0.060±0.002 W m-1oC-1,a high porosity of 88.0%and an average thermal expansion coefficient of5.27×10-6 m m-1oC-1 under the optimal preparation parameters,indicating that the glass-ceramic foams could be widely used in construction and building industry.In the end,formation mechanism of glass-ceramic foams also was discussed.?2?Glass-ceramic foams is prepared by using extracted titanium tailing and glass waste as the main materials.The effects of extracted titanium tailing content on the micro morphology,structure and physicochemical properties have been systematically investigated.When the content of extracted titanium tailing and total solid wastes reach up to 30%and 88%,respectively.The glass-ceramic foams shows an apparent density of 0.60±0.01 g cm-3,a porosity of 76.0±0.4%,a high compressive strength of3.8±0.2 MPa,an available water adsorption rate of 4.4±0.1%,a heat conductivity of0.103±0.003 W m-1oC-11 and an applicable thermal expansivity of 5.43±0.05×10-6 m m-1oC-1.And the glass-ceramic foams accorded with requirement of national standard.?3?The glass ceramics are prepared using extracted titanium tailing and glass waste powder according to 1:1 mass ratio by sintering method.Through SEM,XRD and analysis of various properties,the optimum preparation conditions of glass ceramics are determined:sintering temperature 950oC,sintering time 45 min.Both crystal phase and glass phase exist in the sample,the crystal phase size equally distribute and the crystal shape is regular.Under the optimal conditions,the bulk density of the sample reaches 2.75±0.02 g cm-3,the linear shrinkage rate is 17.40±0.04%,the water absorption rate is 0.060±0.002%,the hardness is 21.3±0.2 GPa,the acid resistance is 0.0803%,and the alkali resistance is 0.036%.Its various performances are excellent,are in line with the relevant national standards.
