In this paper, nucleophilic substitution method is used,a series of meta-biphenyl polyaryletherketone(PEDEKm K)powder with different molecular weights were obtained by the polycondensation of 1,3-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene and biphenyldiol with sodium carbonate as catalyst and diphenyl sulfone as the solvent.Meanwhile, both amorphous and crystalline film samples were also achieved, and polyetheretherketone(PEEK)film sample as a reference were prepared in the same way.The thermal and mechanical properties of all synthesized polymer samples were studied via thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),dynamic thermomechanical analysis(DMA),thermomechanical analysis(TMA),capillary rheology, melt mass flow rate, plate rheology, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC).The results showed that the processed resin not only hadthe similarheat resistance, good thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties as polyetheretherketone(PEEK),but also possessedhigher glass transition temperature(Tg).At the same time, the melting point(Tm)is much lower than polyetheretherketone(PEEK),so the resin hada higher operating temperature and better processing properties than polyetheretherketone(PEEK).After comprehensive evaluation of the resin, one of the PEDEKm K resin samples with excellent flow properties was selected, and then the prepreg and its composite laminate were prepared by combining the selected resin with carbon fiber, and the composite material was scanned by universal testing machine and ultrasonic scanning microscope. The mechanical properties and interface bonding of the laminates were preliminarily studied. It was fully verified that the PEDEKm K material can be used as the resin matrix of the carbon fiber composite material and also verified the feasibility of the preparation process.
