David Pepper’s Research On Ecological Socialism

After the industrial revolution,the living standard of human society has been greatly improved,but it is also accompanied with the pollution and destruction of the global ecological environment.Until now,the problem of ecological environment is still a serious problem faced by us.This paper start from the current research status at home and abroad,the significance of the topic selected in this article is summarized,and then the main reasons for the emergence of his ecological socialism thought are demonstrated on the basis of the background of David Pepper’s ecological socialism.There are two main points:the outbreak of the global ecological crisis and the vigorous development of the green movement.With the continuous deepening of social issues connoted by the social background at that time,David Pepper was constantly coordinating these ideas and reading the needs of the times through reading a large number of theories about ecology.Among them,the most important ones are:The theory of the relationship between man and nature,the Contemporary Frankfurt school’s ecological crisis theory and ecological theory.Finally,its unique ecological socialism thought came into being,which is the core content of this article.Finally,in the last chapter of this article,an objective and systematic analysis of David Pepper’s ecological socialism is carried out in combination with the value needs and value judgment of contemporary society.It is concluded that although its doctrine has certain flaws,in a larger sense,its doctrine is not only the inheritance of the thoughts of its predecessors,but also the most urgent need of the society in its era,and it is precisely under the requirements of this society David Pepper’s ecological socialism came into being.Therefore,to study David Pepper’s ecological socialism ideas in combination with the reality of contemporary society is conducive to a clearer understanding of the great significance of ecological socialism to contemporary society.The content of David Pepper’s ecological socialism has rich connotations.First of all,Marxist ideas and methods as ideological enlightenment not only provided a theoretical basis for his ecological socialism,but also provided a theoretical weapon for his further study.Secondly,from the perspective of historical materialism,David Pepper also analyzed and explained the root causes of the ecological crisis.He believes that the most essential production method of capitalism is also the root cause of the ecological crisis of contemporary society.David Pepper also outlined the beautiful blueprint of the future human ecological socialist society from the perspectives of the overall development of human society,from economic,political,and social aspects.This reflects the distinctive scientific,critical and contemporary characteristics of his thinking from the side.Of course,David Pepper’s ecological socialism inevitably has certain limitations:it is expressed in its utopian color of ecological socialism,but this does not affect its theory for the enrichment of Marxist thought,for the world The solution of ecological crisis has great significance for reference.For China under the current world trend,actively drawing on the positive elements of David Pepper’s ecological socialism has certain reference significance for building a beautiful China and promoting the healthy and orderly development of green ecological civilization.
