Burkett’s Interpretation Of Marx’s Ecological Thought

The worsening of the global ecological environment has seriously threatened survival ist and development.How to improve the ecological environment in which we live and s olve the ecological crisis has become an urgent problem to be solved.Promoting the con struction of ecological civilization and bringing blue sky and beauty to nature are not on ly the basic requirements for our country to realize the harmonious symbiosis between m an and nature,but also the severe challenges that the whole world faces together.How to produce the ecological crisis,how to solve the ecological crisis and what ar e the root causes of the ecological problems have become the research focus of ecologist s.With fierce debates and criticism,different theories and viewpoints have been brought forward.Paul Burkett,one of the representatives of the third generation of ecological Ma rxism,returned to Marx’s text and settled on the basic contents of classical works.He p ut forward the view that "Marx’s text has perfect ecological thoughts".He believed that Marx’s thought has internal and coherent ecological thoughts.He also reinterpreted Marx’s historical materialism theory,capitalist criticism theory and ecological contents of com munist ideas in response to some ecologists’ criticism of Marx’s lack of ecological thoug hts.First of all,from the perspective of social ecology,Burkett elaborated the internal re lationship between Marx’s historical materialism and social ecology.Then Burkett accepte d Marx’s criticism of the capitalist mode of production and the fundamental contradiction of capitalism,went deep into the essence of capitalist production and consumption,expo unded capitalism’s "free possession" of nature,and then proposed the fundamental contrad iction of capitalism and the environmental crisis,revealing the anti-ecological nature of c apitalism.Finally,based on the inherent anti-ecological characteristics of capitalism,Burk ett discussed the ecological relevance of Marx’s communist social vision,put forward his own ecological socialism plan,and further developed the future ecological socialism the ory.Through the study of Marx’s text works,Burkett profoundly analyzed and demonstra ted the ecological relevance of Marx’s thoughts,which played an important role in minin g the ecological content of Marxism and promoting the innovation and development of ecological Marxism.However,Burkett’s analysis of Marx’s ecological thought brought in a strong subjective thought,and his ecological socialism conception also had a green utop ia color.A correct analysis of Burkett’s research on Marx’s ecological thought is of great significance for us to further expand Marx’s ideological theory and dig out Marx’s ecolo gical implication.
