The traditional automobile wheel hub generally USES steel materials,aluminum alloy wheel hub has lighter quality and heat dissipation fast,strong and durable and long life and other advantages,is very in line with the requirements of the rapid development of the contemporary automobile industry.However,the casting process of aluminum alloy wheel is difficult to control its forming quality and casting defects,which limits the production efficiency of aluminum alloy wheel.With the wide application of computer technology in product design and manufacturing,the new product development and manufacturing capacity of modern industry has been significantly improved.In aluminum alloy hub manufacturing,by establishing a computer model and making a numerical model of the casting process to determine the reasonable casting process parameters,the product quality and production efficiency of aluminum alloy casting can be effectively improved,the product development cycle can be shortened,and the production cost can be reduced.The low-pressure die-casting process(LPDC)is widely used in fabricating aluminum alloy automotive wheels.With good castability and mechanical properties,A356 alloys are important and common materials for LPDC wheels.However,in practical casting process,defects often appear,especially porosities in the wheel thick-walled parts(i.e.,spoke)due to inadequate interdendritic feeding,which greatly decreases the mechanical properties.In this paper,according to the structural characteristics of a certain type of aluminum alloy wheel hub,the technological process is designed,and reasonable parameters such as liquid rising pressure and speed,filling pressure and speed are determined,and casting technological parameters such as liquid metal temperature in pouring process,mold preheating temperature,liquid metal flow speed,pressure holding time and pressure are determined.The die casting process of aluminum alloy wheel hub was simulated by finite difference method.The simulation results showed that the liquid aluminum alloy filling speed was stable and evenly distributed under the condition of 0.6m/s filling speed,35 KPa filling pressure and 85 KPa holding pressure,and the holding time was 160 s.The filling state was good,and the solidification temperature of the hub casting was uniformly distributed,which verified the rationality of the casting process design of the aluminum alloy hub.
