In daily life, superhydrophobic surfaces are widely used.In order to improve the applicability of cotton fabric, this article has researched four methods for preparing robust superhydrophobic cotton fabric.Cotton fabric was modified by vinyl trimethoxysilane(VTMS)which gave more reactive vinyl group to itself. After the thiol-ene click chemistry reaction on the functionalized fabric under UV irradiation, the cotton fabric exhibited excellent superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 156.5° and sliding angle of 8°.The f the superhydrophobic cotton fabric were characterized by SEM,EDS,XPS.The results showed the surface of cotton fabric was coated by polymer films which increased the surface roughness and lowered the surface energy of the fabric The treated fabric could be used for separation of oil-water mixture because of its superhydrophobicity. Moreover,it still maintained high hydrophobicity even under harsh conditions. This superhydrophobic cotton fabric has potential application value in oil-water separation, and this simple preparation method also has broad application prospects.Secondly, the cotton fabric was treated with mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane MPTES,so that the cotton fabric has a reactive group mercapto group, and then vinylterminated polydimethylsiloxane VPDMS and pentaerythritol tetra-3-mercaptopropionate PETMP reacted under the irradiation of ultraviolet light to obtain a superhydrophobic cotton fabric.Optimized reaction conditions:The better solvent is carbon dichloride, the photoreaction time is 60 minutes, and the ratio is PETMP:VPDMS is 1:3.SEM and EDS test results show that:PETMP and VPDMS successfully reacted on cotton fabric, forming granular microstructures on the surface, increasing the roughness of the cotton fibers, giving the Superhydrophobic performance. The non-polarity of alkanes also reduces the surface energy of the fabric. The performance test results show that the superhydrophobic cotton fabric has certain resistance to acid and alkali, high temperature, organic solvents,UV and mechanical abrasion.Treat the cotton fabric with mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane MPTES to make the cotton fabric have mercapto group, then use vinyl containing tetramethyltetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane(TMTVSi),octadecylsulfide Alcohol(Thiol),after UV light irradiation, click reaction occurs on cotton fabric.Optimized reaction conditions:the optimal photoreaction time was 30 min,and the TMTVSi:Thiol molar ratio was 1:4.The SEM and EDS analysis results showed that MPTES,TMTVSi,and Thiol have successfully reacted on the cotton fabric, forming a granular microstructure on the surface of the cotton fabric, improving the roughness of the cotton fiber, and giving it superhydrophobic properties. The non-polarity of alkanes also reduces the surface energy of the fabric. The treated superhydrophobic cotton fabric has certain resistance to acid and alkali, organic solvents,UV aging and mechanical friction. Finally,a one-step hydrolysis of hydrophobic reagents was used to prepare superhydrophobic cotton fabrics.Vinyltrimethoxysilane was first reacted with thiols under catalytic conditions to prepare hydrophobic reagents.Thiols and vinyltrimethoxy groups with different carbon chain lengths were obtained. The silane reaction product is hydrolyzed under appropriate conditions to prepare a superhydrophobic cotton fabric by a one-step impregnation method. The contact angle was used as an evaluation index. It was found that the reaction product of tetradecanethiol and vinyltrimethoxysilane had a better treatment effect, and the contact angle of the treated cotton fabric reached 159 °.From results of FTIR,EDS,SEM and XPS the cotton fabric before and after the reaction,it can be seen that the hydrophobic agent was successfully deposited on the surface of the cotton fabric, the surface microstructure of the modified cotton fabric changed, and the cotton fabric had superhydrophobic properties.
