High internal phase emulsion(HIPE),also known as super-concentrated emulsion, refers to a class of emulsion whose dispersed phase volume fraction is more than 74.05%.The high internal phase emulsion as a template is a simple and effective method for preparing porous polymer materials(called as polyHIPEs)via the polymerization of monomers in the continuous phase at a certain temperature.Due to their characteristics of high porosity, low density and large specific surface area, polyHIPE materials can be used in separation, catalyst support, biomedicine, liquid chromatography, etc.Acrylic base porous polymer materials were prepared by the template method of oil-in-water high internal phase emulsion in this thesis, which can quickly absorb and retain a large amount of water or aqueous solution as well as various contaminants(such as pesticides, dyes and metal ions)in aqueous solutions due to both polymer crosslinked network and highly porous structure. Therefore,it can be applied in agriculture, environmental pollution treatment, medicine, drug controlled release and so on.Based on the above advantages, the following work was carried out in this thesis:1.Synthesis of acrylic base porous polymer materials by the polymerization of oil-in-water high internal phase emulsion with acrylic acid as main monomer via redox initiation using ammonium persulfate(APS)and tetramethyl ethylenediamine(TEMED).The pore structure was observed by scanning electron microscope and the ability of adsorbing water and methylene blue dye was tested. In addition, the effect of the internal phase volume, monomer ratio, type of surfactant and crosslinking agent content on the structure and performance of porous polymer materials was studied.2.Synthesis of acrylic base polyHIPE hydrogels by radiation polymerization of oil-in-water high internal phase emulsion with acrylic acid as main monomer at room temperature without an initiator and a crosslinking agent.Because acrylic acid is a radiation crosslinked monomer, the crossling degree of acrylic base polyHIPE hydrogels can be adjusted by the absorbed dose of radiation polymerization.Compared with redox initiated polymerization at 50?,radiation polymerization can be carried out at room temperature, which is conducive to the stability of oil-in-water high internal phase emulsion. Therefore, the acrylic base porous polymer materials prepared by radiation polymerization have a typical polyHIPE structure with more uniform holes, which can be observed by scanning electron microscopy. The adsorption of water and methylene blue was also tested. It is found that the acrylic base porous polymer materials have the best absorption performance under neutral or weakly basic conditions. The RX-2 sample(radiation polymerization for 48 h with absorbed dose of 151.2 kGy)could adsorb up to 1175.9 mg methylene blue per gram in 250 mg/L methylene blue solution, while the RX-7 sample(radiation polymerization for 8 h with absorbed dose of 25.2 kGy)could absorb a lot of water up to nearly 120 times its original weight.
