With its advantages of high speed,high efficiency and ultra-precision grinding,superhard abrasive tools are widely used in the fields of grinding glass,ceramics,cemented carbide and stone.As a common resin binder for superhard abrasive tools,phenolic resin performance greatly affects the overall performance of the abrasive tools.Because the phenolic hydroxyl group and methylene group in the phenolic resin structure are easily oxidized and the benzene ring are only connected by methylene groups after the resin was cured,the phenolic resin binder used for superhard abrasive tools generally has low thermal decomposition temperature,binding force weakness,poor mechanical properties and other shortcomings have become one of the factors restricting the development of the abrasive tool industryAiming at the defects in the structure of phenolic resin,such as insufficient heat resistance and high brittleness,this study started from the molecular structure design,using silicone as a modifier of phenolic resin and through the transesterification reaction of siloxane and phenol,the silicone phenolic resin was successfully synthesized in a two-step reaction;the synthetic silicone phenolic resin was further modified by introducing modifiers epoxy resin and boric acid respectively for the mechanical properties and thermal stability of the silicone phenolic resin to enhance the overall performance of the resin.Using FTIR,DSC,SEM,TG and mechanical properties testing and other characterization methods,the structure and properties of the synthetic resin were characterized.In addition,the grinding performance of the superhard abrasives tools prepared by the resin as a binder was also studied.Through the characterization and analysis of the resin structure and performance,it was found that three synthetic resins of silicone phenolic resin,epoxy modified silicone phenolic resin and boric acid modified silicone phenolic resin were successfully prepared Among them,the epoxy modified silicone phenolic resin performs best in terms of mechanical properties,and its bending strength and impact strength are increased by 33.2%and 27.4%respectively compared with ordinary phenolic resin;The boric acid modified silicone phenolic resin is outstanding in thermal stability,and the residual carbon rate of the resin can reach 66.8%at 1000?.Through grinding experiments on the superhard abrasive tools prepared with three resins as binders,it was found that the best working conditions of the three abrasive tools in the grinding process are different.When the boric acid content is 3%,the grinding linear speed is 23.0 m/s and the feed is 100 ?m,the superhard abrasive tools showed the best grinding performance,the grinding ratio reached 27.56,which is the highest grinding ratio in the test.
