Wood(Bamboo)/plastic composite has been widely used because it has both advantages of plant fiber and plastics.It has become the focus of the automotive industry to develop new parts of material due to its environment-friendly and lightweight characteristics.In order to study the feasibility of bamboo fiber/wood fiber/polypropylene fiber composites(hereinafter referred to as BF/WF/PP fiber composites)application in the automotive interior trim,this paper studied the preparation of BF/WF/PP fiber composites from four aspects: determination of process parameters,modification treatment,determination of volatile organic compounds emission and molding properties.In the research,BF/WF/PP fiber felt was made by non-woven air paving technology,and BF/WF /PP fiber composites were prepared by softening with hot pressing and shaping with cold pressing.Hot-pressing temperature,hot-pressing time and the ratio of BF/WF/PP fiber were studied in this paper.Optimal preparation technology was obtained through analyzing physical and mechanical properties of BF/WF /PP fiber composites,such as modulus of rupture(MOR)and modulus of elasticity(MOE)before and after water soaking,water absorption(WA)and thickness swelling(TS).The impact mechanism of ratio of BF/WF/PP fiber on properties of BF/WF /PP fiber composites was investigated as well.In order to reduce the density while maintain the strength,different concentrations of ?-aminopropyltrimethyoxysilane(AMEO)coupling agent were used to treat bamboo fiber,the effect of silane coupling agent concentration on the properties of BF/WF /PP fiber composites was studied.The release amount of volatile organic compounds(VOC)and the properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional molding were also studied.The main research conclusions are as follows.(1)Bamboo fiber content and hot pressing temperature had a significant effect on the properties of BF/WF /PP fiber composites.With the increase of bamboo fiber content,the MOR and MOE of the BF/WF /PP fiber composites decreased first and then increased.When the bamboo fiber content was 25%,the mechanical properties of the BF/WF /PP fiber composites were the best.WA and TS decreased with the increase of bamboo fiber content.After water soaking,the mechanical properties of the BF/WF /PP fiber composites decreased,and the trend was similar to that before soaking.In conclusion,the properties of BF/WF/PP fiber composites were optimal when hot-pressing temperature,hot-pressing time and ratio of BF/WF/PP fiber was 180?,2 min/mm,and 25:25:50,respectively.(2)The effect of AMEO concentration on the properties of the BF/PP fiber composites was studied by treating bamboo fibers with AMEO at 0%,1%,3%,5% and 7%.The results showed that the number of hydrophilic hydroxyl groups was decreased and the interfacial properties were enhanced when the modified bamboo fiber was compounded with PP.The mechanical properties of BF/PP fiber composites tend to increase first and then decrease with the increase of AMEO concentration.The mechanical properties of BF/PP fiber composites were optimal when AMEO concentration was 3%,and the maximum MOR and MOE were 63.12 MPa and 3781 MPa respectively.(3)Thermal analysis method was used to test the VOC and semi-volatile organic compounds(SVOC)emission of composites,and the results showed that the VOC and SVOC were fully compliant with Patac Engineering Standards TS-INT-001 PES11080 standard,The test result was qualified.(4)The content of bamboo fiber and the parameters of the mold had a significant impact on the deformation of the composite through the two-dimensional molding of bamboo/wood /PP fiber felt.It was found that the more bamboo fiber was used,the smaller deformation of the composite was formed because it could withstand higher tension.It was more prone to form a stress concentration when the mold pressure angle was larger and the wave crest width was smaller,which led to the larger deformation.The property of three-dimensional molding was test in this paper.The results showed that the parameters of the mold had a significant effect on the surface quality of the composite,but the content of bamboo fiber had insignificant effect.It was more prone to form cracks for the composite when there were more right angles on the mold.
