| Over the last decade,considerable progress has been made in the image processing of textile materials.The past,present,and future of image processing for the melange yarn industry were investigated.The conventional yarn inspection methods with the manual vision and computerized vision and their respective disadvantages and advantages were discussed.Next,the macropixel analysis in particular was analyzed.With the MATLAB-based model,the real-time homogeneity of neppy melange yarn fabrics was studied.After the comparison analysis of the existing systems,it is found that the melange yarn industry relies solely on visual assessment and experience of human vision.Based on the MATLAB model,an algorithm was proposed to offer the solution for the melange yarn industry to determine the nep homogeneity and nep detection.The designed algorithm was built on kernel density function and macropixel analysis and then validated in the real-time nep detection experiments of neppy melange yarns.The computing results show that the inhomogeneity of neps is around 91%,which of course cannot be attained by naked eyes.The new model,algorithm and method would be useful for the nep detection of the melange yarn industry and can also be used in detecting other types of fashion yarns.Finally,the research project is summarized and the possible future research directions are suggested. |
