Open cast coal mining has a series of consequences on land resources and presents a real problem for the ecological environment.Stripping, excavation, transportation and dumping have different effects on soil physical, chemical and biological properties.Mining industry in general and open pit mime in particular can produces a large amount of abandoned land, which can cause pollution and soil erosion, these damages really affect the environment in many countries as in China as well.Regarding all these consequences,in China‘s open pit mine,it is now policy to restore or reclaim land despoiled by mining, the aim being to develop sustainable and healthy land ecosystems. This paper focus on ecological restoration and the rehabilitation of land.A comparative research by using one-way ANOVA,SPSS 25.0 and Microsoft Excel 2016 software is made on the different characteristics between south, north damaged land and the undamaged land in Shengli open pit mine for figure out the mechanisms of land damaged and to know in which degree coal mining exploitation can affect soil properties. This research also outlined some principles of test construction based on solid coal mine waste specially coal gangue, which include fertility management, influence of plant roots, and vegetation growth. The study examines also the slope stability using software simulation on AutoCAD 2014,GEO-Slope 2007 modulus SLOPE/W and laboratory test of damage land, which include new land construction, soil erosion control by developing different construction procedures for reclamation of slopes to satisfy the conflicting concerns of providing structural stability. As the research demonstrated, for successful restoration and the optimal use of dumped soil after mining, new land construction is the fundamental framework, but it must be integrated with ecological planning, the control of soil erosion, vegetation system, establishment and ecosystem creation in order to optimise land productivity, soil fertility and environment protection.
