In today's fast-paced personal and work life,being close to nature and enjoying life have become a fashionable way of pursuing leisure.In this regard,tents present excellent market prospects for outdoor leisure,disaster relief,indoor entertainment and other purposes as a product,providing comfortable,independent and safe space.However,with increasing brand competition due to globalization,product imitation and homogenization have emerged as common phenomena.Thus,innovative tent designs and establishment of brand identity have become more important than ever before in the wake of fierce market competition.This research paper aims to primarily analyze the product family design for the appearance of a conceptual origami tent.At the same time,according to the particularity of this tent product,starting from the perceptual demands of consumers,this research proposes design and evaluation methods for surface pattern modeling of origami tent product family based on the theories of kansei engineering and product family design DNA.Firstly,by exploring market research and through product situation analysis,this research clarifies the target product types for origami tent product family design.And the structure and geometric characteristics of origami tents have been considered based on the relevant standards and human engineering theory to determine the humanmachine dimensions of the tents,hence building the foundation for the follow-up research.Secondly,this research uses kansei words to perceive consumers' perceptual cognition regarding tent products.This perceptual information is quantified via semantic differential method,and follow-up process of obtaining representative consumers' kansei images through the factor analysis method.Thirdly,because the origami tent is an innovative product,hence,it was impossible to obtain sufficient amount of product samples in the market to develop design form elements.By conducting study analysis of graphic design elements within relevant application scenarios,the graphic design elements were subdivided and coded into three elements of text,graphics and color based on the visual space theory of graphic design and PCCS(Practical Color coordinate System)color system.Moreover,the construction of form space of graphic design elements was also created following the same methodology.Fourthly,the design and evaluation method of origami tent product family in this study was established by using the random forest and BP neural network in machine learning algorithm.The random forest algorithm,despite being a simple and efficient algorithm,is rarely applied in kansei engineering.Through the presented method,the importance of design elements can be effectively sorted and screened,which can be used as a reference for subsequent design.Additionally,the BP neural network can predict perceptual evaluation of product schemes to construct the evaluation of design schemes.Finally,by utilizing the theory of product family design DNA and analysis of the importance of relevant design elements,this research divides the general design DNA and personalized design DNA in the design platform of origami tent product family.Three kinds of modeling schemes for origami tent product family are obtained in conjunction with associative thinking design method,and the feasibility of the design and evaluation system of origami tent product family was verified by questionnaire survey.
