Acid and salt-type fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester?AEnCE-H and AEnCE-Na,n=3,5,7,9?surfactants were successfully synthesized with a green and efficient method using fatty alcohol ether with different ethylene oxide?EO?numbers?AEOn,n=3,5,7,9?,succinic anhydride and NaOH as raw materials.In this paper,molecular structure,physicochemical property,application property of AEnCE-H and AEnCE-Na?n=3,5,7,9?as well as compatibility property of AEnCE-Na with cationic surfactants were investigated.The conclusions are as follows:?1?Study on the preparation and characterization of fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester.Nonionic acid-type fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester with different EO numbers?AEnCE-H,n=3,5,7,9?were obtained by one-step method using AEOn?n=3,5,7,9?and succinic anhydride as raw materials.On the one hand,the conversion rate of AEOn was determined by the acid values before and after the reaction.And on the other hand,the structure of products also was verified by Fourier transform infrared?FT-IR?spectroscopy,Nuclear magnetic resonance?1H-NMR?spectroscopy and Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry?MALDI-TOF-MS?.Finally,nonionic acid-type products AEnCE-H?n=3,5,7,9?with different EO numbers were neutralized to obtain the solution of salt-type anionic fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester?AEnCE-Na,n=3,5,7,9?with corresponding EO numbers.?2?Study on the physicochemical property of fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester.The influences of structure-activity relationship including EO numbers,types of surfactants and solution concentration on the physicochemical property of fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ether were investigated by static surface tension,dynamic contact angle and dynamic surface tension.The results showed that among AEnCE-H and AEn CE-Na?n=3,5,7,9?,AE7CE-H and AE3CE-Na have the highest surface activity,respectively,as well as AE5CE-H and AE3CE-Na have the strongest wettability on the hydrophobic paraffin film,respectively.AEnCE-Na have faster diffusion rate than AEnCE-H with the same EO numbers.The adsorption energy of AEnCE-H and AEnCE-Na?n=3,5,7,9?are all low,which belong to mixed diffusion-kinetic adsorption.?3?Study on the application property of fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester.The influences of EO numbers and types of surfactants on the application performances of fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester were discussed through the characterization of wetting,emulsification,foam and detergency.The results showed that among AEnCE-H and AEnCE-Na?n=3,5,7,9?,AE7CE-H and AE3CE-Na have the best wettability and emulsification.AEnCE-H?n=3,5,7,9?are low-foam surfactants,while AEnCE-Na?n=3,5,7,9?have better foam performances.The cleanability of AEnCE-Na is better than that of AEnCE-H?n=3,5,7,9?with the same EO numbers.?4?Study on the compatibility property of salt-type fatty alcohol ether carboxylic ester.The mixed systems AE9CE-Na/DEQ and AE5CE-Na/CTAB composed of AE9CE-Na and AE5CE-Na with DEQ and CTAB respectively showed synergistic effect in terms of surface activity and application performance.In addition,the mixed system AE9CE-Na/DEQ also exhibited various self-assembly behaviors.
