With the widespread use of diversified nonlinear devices in power system,significant voltage fluctuation,reduction of power factor and harmonic distortion have caused serious pollution to power quality.While rapid development of electronic computers and micromanipulation technology demand for reliable power quality to ensure the normal operation of the instruments.This contradiction above has accelerated the theoretical research and engineering application of reactive power compensation technology.Benefit from the massive improvement in performance of TRIACs,the more excellent effect of reactive power compensation devices has been obtained.Compared with the other reactive power compensation devices,STATCOM owns tremendous research value in presence of low-harmonic,huge range of adjustment and high reliability.Choosing the STATCOM in power system as the reference objective,a cascaded STATCOM generalized device for three-phase 220 V AC system is presented,moreover,the control strategy is implemented based on the operating platform of OMAPL138 and FPGA.In terms of hardware design in this paper,OMAPL138 and XC6SLX16 are taken as the central processing unit of the system.According to the functional modules in STATCOM,the hardware platform is constructed by CPU,signals I/O module,driving module and the other modules.Furthermore,in order to satisfy the individual requirements in functional modules,the STATCOM structures are connected by composite socket.In the process of the software design,the structured design method is adopted to divide the application software based on the mathematical model and energy relation of STATCOM.More specifically,the proposed algorithm structure consists of decoupling strategy,control algorithm of current and DC voltage referred to decoupling equations of voltage and current.Since the strong electromagnetic interference environment of the STATCOM system,this article proceeds from circuit design,PCB layout and wiring,and interference sources to ensure the reliability of signals and enhance the anti-interference performance of system.Additionally,the anti-interference performance of STATCOM is verified by EMC tests.Finally,taking advantage of MATLAB to simulate the proposed control strategy and modulation method.Besides,series experiments of signals isolation,amplification and sampling are accomplished by the combination between STATCOM hardware platform and simulation results.Therefore,the reactive power compensation performance of the cascaded STATCOM is ascertained.As the experiments turn out that the cascaded STATCOM device designed in this paper can run reliably in the actual application,which achieves the reliable reactive power compensation in three-phase 220 V AC system.
