China has rich walnut germplasm resources,and also the evolution of world walnut cultivation centers,production and consumption power distribution center,the acreage and production of walnut in China topped the list in woody oil plants,the annual output exceed two million tons.Systematic investigations of walnut resources have not been carry out for a long time in China because of various reasons,especially the limited knowledge of the wild walnut resource distribution and status;It has been in a state facing extinction due to the over-exploitation of other resources and destruction of walnut original habitat in recent years;Because of ignoring the conservation and management of genetic resources,resulted in the foundation of walnut varieties resources is limited.Therefore,it is essential for walnut to carry out national genetic resources survey and make clear of the situation of genetic resources in China.This paper is part of the walnut resources investigation in Henan province.In this paper,the germplasm resources of walnut were investigated in Ruzhou,Henan provence,including the growing space,growing conditions,growing character,features of fruits and leaves,the phenological period and fructification states etc.According to this research,excellent walnut plants were chosen then repeat determined the morphological indicators including dried fruit weight,kernel weight,kernel,thickness of the shells etc,every year,three by the average.Determined the morphological index on economic characters,the protein content,fat and crude fiber of superior individual walnut.Selected the superior characters of walnut plants using EXCEL2003 and SPSS13.0.The main results of study were as follows:1.Using the principal component analysis of SPSS,the top five superior strains were RH4,RH15,RH12,RH16,RH13.2.The 10 strains of superior individual(RH3,RH4,RH6,RH8,RH12,RH13,RH15,RH16,ND7,ND13)have high nutritional value,nut quality of inclusions in the average protein content of 22.18%,the average fat content of 59.99%,the average crude fiber content of 3.22%.3.In the correlation analysis,the dried fruit weight,three diameters mean,kernel weight,shell thickness was significantly correlated with the correlation coefficient(P<0.01).The dried fruit weight was significantly correlation to kernel weight And significantly negative correlation to the kernel(P<0.05).Kernel weight and protein content was significantly negatively correlated.4.Cluster analysis was made for 10 plus trees on nine main nuts quality indicators.The ten optimal plant walnuts were divided into three categories:(1)The high protein content,the high crude fiber content,the shell thickness of medium walnut resources;(2)The high kernel,the high fat content,the thin shell thickness of the walnut resources;(3)The high single fruit weight,the shell thickness is greater than 2 mm,the low walnut kernel resources.
