Study On AIDS-related Knowledge,behaviors And Its Associated Influenced Factors Among HIV-negative Men Who Have Sex With Men In Ningbo

ObjectiveTo describe AIDS-related knowledge awareness,behavior characteristics of HIV negative men who have sex with men(MSM)in Ningbo.In order to provide effective prevention and control guidance,the related determinants of AIDS-related knowledge,high risk behavior were explored.MethodsSamples were collected by network recruitment,respondent driven and other methods.After informed consent,the venous blood was collected and tested.The questionnaire survey of AIDS-related knowledge and behavior was carried out by using the unified questionnaire after the subjects who tested HIV-positive were excluded.The AIDS related knowledge,high-risk behavior and test behavior of the respondents were described,and their risk factors were assessed by univariate analysis and multivariate analysis.ResultsThe average age of the 925 respondents was 29.9±8.4 years.Among these,560(60.5%)people were unmarried,505(54.6%)people were in Zhejiang province,73.3% lived in Ningbo for more than 2 years,42.2% had college degree or above.The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge was 92.5%.398(43.03%)people had not used condoms when had anal sex with men in the past three months.Multivariate unconditional logistic regression indicated that nationality,education level,heterosexual sex condition were associated with AIDS related knowledge(P<0.05).The local time of residence,educational level and whether accepted face-to-face AIDS promotion by medical staff/peers were associated with AIDS related high risk sexual behavior(P<0.05).It was also indicated that sexual orientation,whether ever been diagnosed with STI(sexual transmitted disease)in the last three months and whether accepted face-to-face AIDS promotion by medical staff/peers were associated with whether tested HIV in the last year(P<0.05).ConclusionThrough systematic propaganda and intervention,HIV-negative MSM had high rate of AIDS awareness.However they still lacked risk consciousness,had multiple partners and unprotected sex.The education of noninfectious pathway and the seriousness of local AIDS epidemic should be expanded.HIV testing for STD clinic clients should be also expanded.Especially,AIDS prevention and publicity education for people who were ethnic minorities,migrant population,had low education level,or had heterosexual sex should be strengthened.
